Once again, the United Arab Emirates has proven itself as a trusted and impartial mediator, fostering peace and bringing opposing sides together. Through its successful mediation, the UAE facilitated the exchange of 350 prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine—an achievement that has brought immense relief and joy to hundreds of families who have been anxiously awaiting this moment.

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that 175 Russian servicemen returned home from Ukrainian captivity, while Russia, in turn, released 175 Ukrainian prisoners. Additionally, as a humanitarian gesture, 22 severely wounded Ukrainian prisoners were also freed.

Recognizing the UAE’s vital role in this effort, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a message on X (formerly Twitter), expressing gratitude for the UAE’s mediation and acknowledging how such diplomatic efforts restore hope and open doors for future peace.
